DIY: Turban Headband Option 1

I'm in L.O.V.E with all types of headbands, but the turban has become a fave on my baby! They are super simple to make!  I have a sewing machine, but you could hot glue or hand sew, no problem!  Here's how they're made!

Step 1: Pick a fabric. Jersey or stretchy material works best, bc it rolls on the edges!  Any non-fraying fabric would do!  (I also use old t-shirts & leggings!)

Step 2: Cut strips. I made mine for Navy, so I cut 12"x5" strips. Stretch them out by pulling on each strip.

Step 3: Lay the strips in an X.

Step 4: Fold each strip in half, so you are holding the ends of the same strip in each hand.

Step 5: Measure the width of the baby's head to see where you will need to sew.  Straighten out the ends so they are laying flat! Sew a straight line. (You could totally hand sew this!)

Step 6:
Cut off remnants close to seam and turn the headband inside out!

Step 7: Place on your cute baby's head!

DIY DONE!

Cleaning 101

I usually take Mondays to clean everything in my house.  Cleaning is a love-hate relationship.  Meaning sometimes I love it and sometimes I hate it!  There is however 10 easy steps that I follow that allows you to feel accomplished no matter how deep your clean goes!  I also recommend drinking a cup of coffee before you start. :)

Step 1. Gather all the dirty clothes from your house & throw them in the wash.  In my case, they are in EVERY room! Swear.  I also toss in dish clothes and pot holders! Something about that washing sound puts me in the cleaning mood.

Step 2. Make all your beds. Don't worry if the room is messy, just throw everything off the beds and make them.

Step 3. Collect dishes from everywhere & bring them to the sink.  I even wash cups used at bath time.

Step 4. Collect all trash from around the house.  I use grocery store bags, go through the whole house, and then put then in a big trash bag when I'm done.

Step 5. Make piles of belongings in your main living area. Pile of stuff for my room. Bathrooms. Kids rooms.  (I make my kids deliver these piles!)  Anything laying out gets put in a pile!

Step 6. Kitchen!  Put away anything that needs to go into pantry or storage.  (All other belongings should already be in piles.). Put dishes in dishwasher or wash them. Clean counters. Sweep.

Step 7. Use your counter rag to wipe all other surfaces.  Starting with the cleanest and make your way to the dirtiest!  Kitchen table, coffee table, bookshelves, bathrooms.

Step 8. Clean individual rooms.  Clothes always go on the beds.  Belongings put away. (I use the piles to help with anything that needs to go to another place.)

Step 9. Continue Laundry.

Step 10. Vacuum.

Done!

Repeat every Monday.  A clean home just makes everything better sometimes!

Things I Never Wanna Forget: {Crew Manning Edition}

Crew is a boy through and through.  When he was born, he spent a week in the NICU, due to his lungs not functioning properly.  He's been making up for that lack of lung function ever since.  He is SO LOUD!

Crew is tough!  From the time he could walk, he has banged himself against more walls and furniture than I could count and he rarely cries.  I remember walking through the house trying to figure out where loud banging noises were coming from.... It was Crew running head first into the wall to make his sister laugh.

Crew hates water.  All kinds.  Pools.  Oceans.  Baths are ok sometimes, but it's taken 3 years to get to ok.  I am so amazed at him hating water, because he is fearless when it comes to all other things.  I'll take a little fear when I can get it, especially if it slows him down a little bit!

Crew mispronounces words and I want to keep it that way forever!  Kevin always tries to correct him, and I hate it.  I always want to cut the "wrist" off his sandwiches (crust).  I want him to always talk to me about "necked" witches (wicked).  I want to ask to wear his "comby-fee" clothes (comfy).  I want to apply medicine to his "cooter" bites (mosquito).

Crew is a politician.  He loves to meet new people and talk to them about everything.  His favorite conversation starter is, "Hey, you like my shoes?"  And from there he divulges information about himself and gets to know whomever he meets.  His favorite are older ladies with white hair.  He says he loves them all because they are a Grandma.  My heart just swells, and I could kiss his face off.

Crew loves to call people names.  His favorites are nerd and ferret.

Crew loves superheroes. Finally.  His favorite show was a fairy show, so I started making him watch shows where they fight and jump off things and do boy things.  I couldn't take his sister dressing him up in a tu-tu again. Enough was enough.

Crew loves fiercely.  Whoever you are.  He loves you.  He makes friends easy and fast.  I can 't wait to see how God uses all of these things for His glory one day.  I am in love with my CrewMan.

Things I Never Wanna Forget: {Gray Campbell Edition}

Gray is my firstborn. She just started Kindergarten in the past week! I say every age is my favorite age, and the age of 5 still holds true to that. I love it so.

Gray has a sensitive soul. If Kevin & I are playing with her and ask her to choose a side, she often breaks down in tears for fear of hurting one of us. Sweet, sweet Gray.

Gray is also VERY spicy. She gets all that from her dad! :) Ok, ok, it's all from me. Sometimes she can give him a look & I think, man, that's exactly what look I give him. Scary.

Gray is a great big sister. Transitioning into the Big Sister role has come easy each time.

Gray is a DIVA. Her own words. I asked her if she knew what this meant and she responded, "It means I can be a brat. Totes." Needless to say, Toddlers and Tiaras, thanks bunches. She can of course have moments of brattiness, where I then spew lines like any good mother would, about starving/unfortunate children. Her diva side that I love is all on the outside.

She is a fashionista. Loves to over accessorize! LOVES make-up! Might be the only 5 year old I know who wears mascara pretty regularly. (I blame it on my mom for telling me no all those years. I mean it's not hurting anybody!) She is quick to tell me she hates an outfit, but I remind her that I have never steered her wrong yet, so trust me, wear it. She does.

Everyday she is at school, I miss her. She is the reason I came out of the classroom. I'm jealous of all the quality time and car rides she has with her daddy. I think about if I was in the classroom, what our school life would be like together. I just love her so. I think of what the future holds for her. How our relationship will grow. What will she do in her free time. Who she will date. What she will be. Then I pray and pray over all of it. One thing is for sure. The world is a better place, because she is in it. I love Gray Campbell.
